About Us
Hello, we are Chris, Michelle and Alfie. Our son Alfie is autistic and since he was very little he has loved collectables, spending the last 7 years collecting keyrings, figurines, mini brick figures and pin badges. Having autism means that Alfie really struggles with both separation and social anxiety. So, taking inspiration from a family member and embracing Alfie’s passion we have set up this small business selling collectables. Alfie has been involved in deciding what we should sell and helps with managing the stock and selling, helping him to develop both his business and social skills. We as parents are keen to use this platform to raise awareness of Autism and to support the National Autistic Society and other local groups, supporting parents and children who are affected by behaviour related conditions.
What is Autism?
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. More than 1 in 100 people are on the autism spectrum and there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK. Autism can affect people in different ways, difficulties that can be experienced by people with autism are social interaction & communication, repetitive and/or restrictive behaviour, sensory sensitivities, highly focused interests or hobbies and extreme anxiety.
Autistic people and their families may have different support needs however they do share many of the same challenges, whether that is getting enough support from mental health, education, and social care services or being misunderstood by people around them.
Raising awareness is key in helping people to understand and think differently about autism, so we hope to play a small part in this bigger awareness campaign by helping our local communities to learn about autism.
100% of proceeds from all Autism Awareness products will be donated to the National Autistic Society and a donation made from the sale of other products.
Thank you so much for supporting Alfies Gifts.
Autism is a gift; you just need to unwrap.
